Healing through the patient-doctor relationship
Dr. Cook emphasizes the importance of the healing relationship between doctor and patient. Listening intently, providing much needed validation to the patient’s suffering and earning her trust and confidence are all essential to the success of the treatment process as a whole. This could not be more the case with endometriosis where often patients feel dismissed and betrayed by the medical profession, having been told their pain is in their heads and often not being provided a complete picture of the treatments available.
