My medical practice is characterized by my underlying philosophy of treating patients with respect and dignity. At the same time, I use a comprehensive, open-minded approach to providing leading-edge health care to treat disease and achieve health and wellness.

Dr. Cook's Philosophy

My father and brothers were all mechanical engineers. Growing up, my siblings and I were taught to analyze problems, come up with solutions and fix the problem. In short, we learned to think “outside of the box,” and devise the best solution to a problem. This innovative approach has applied to many of the challenges I’ve faced throughout my life.

When I entered medical school, I gravitated to surgery because the discipline allowed me to fix problems. In contrast, traditional Western medical subspecialties encouraged “disease management” through prescription medications. I also enjoyed and became proficient at performing difficult surgeries. Over time I began to focus on the treatment of endometriosis, which can involve more tissue than cancer, and thus can require some of the most challenging surgery. During the 1980s, when I did my medical training, laparoscopic surgery was in its early stages.

Complete surgical removal of endometriosis is an essential step in the process of achieving successful treatment outcomes.

This technique, along with the mentoring I received from the “grandfather of endometriosis” specialists, Dr. Robert Franklin, motivated me to specialize in the treatment of endometriosis. Today I’m proud to be regarded as one of the world’s experts in treating endometriosis and pelvic pain.

Treating the whole patient

My reputation as an endometriosis specialist was earned through my surgical skills and results following successful treatment of some the most difficult cases of endometriosis via laparoscopic excision surgery. And it is true that complete surgical removal of endometriosis is an essential step in the process of achieving successful treatment outcomes. Unlike many of my fellow worldwide endometriosis experts, however, I’ve never been satisfied with simply providing outstanding surgical treatment of endometriosis. I believe that surgery is only part of the answer to restoring the health of patients with endometriosis and pelvic pain.

I employ a multidisciplinary approach, utilizing leading edge, traditional Western medicine and alternative integrative medicine, combined with an open mind and trust in the patient.
-Dr. Andrew Cook

I employ a multidisciplinary approach, utilizing leading edge, traditional Western medicine and alternative integrative medicine, combined with an open mind and trust in the patient. I believe these are all necessary components in achieving success. Treating this complex disease has not only resulted in my becoming a better physician, it has made me an expert in treating an array of less complex conditions as well.

While our specialty centers represent our areas of focus, the wide range of services on offer and conditions treated reflect the breadth of expertise on offer at Vital Health Endometriosis Center. We strive to provide outstanding care to all our patients, whether their condition is one of severe multi-system dysfunction, or they are simply requesting a routine PAP smear and well-woman visit.
