At Vital Health Institute, Dr. Cook and the other healthcare providers see and treat a wide range of women's health-related issues. As a team we are dedicated to fulfilling our motto, "The way women should be treated." We feel that it is a privilege to be part of such a great practice, and a privilege to have the opportunity to help our patients regain their health. We are a group who truly like each other, and each one of us brings a positive, upbeat attitude to work each day. It is part of our work ethic to treat our patients with respect, dignity and compassion. We strive to provide truly integrative health care, with the highest-quality diagnostic testing and best treatment available.

The result is a pleasant environment in which we proactively work with our patients to live healthy lives. Whatever the specific condition, in the vast majority of cases we are successful in providing a positive outcome for our patients. Patients with endometriosis and pelvic pain often present a unique and complex set of problems. The combination of our compassion, Dr. Cook's surgical success with difficult cases, and our integrative approach has resulted in our reputation as an international center of excellence for the treatment of pelvic pain and endometriosis.

When looking at data, it is important to know the profile of patients in the study group. In general, most patients seen at Vital Health Institute for endometriosis and pelvic pain have been treated by several other physicians, and have undergone an average of three or four previous surgeries. Also, most have failed to find a physician who could effectively treat their condition. This group of patients has the worst prognosis, or chance of getting better.

Outcome information for pelvic pain and endometriosis patients treated at Vital Health Institute by Dr. Cook is as follows (Note: the length of follow-up ranges between three months and five years).

  • Time post-op: 3mo to 5yr
  • Percentage of patients with >50% improvement: 80%
  • Average number of previous surgeries: 3.6
  • Overall average improvement of symptoms: 71%
  • Percentage of patients feeling >90% better: 37%

A review of re-operation rate and recurrence rate of surgeries performed by Dr. Cook from 2002 to 2006 showed a re-operation rate of less than 9 percent, and a recurrence rate of about 3 percent, with endometriosis at the same site of previous endometriosis of less than 2 percent.

If you are a patient considering travel for the treatment of endometriosis and pelvic pain, obviously the most important aspect is trying to find a center that can successfully resolve your situation. There are several endometriosis centers of excellence that provide good surgical treatment for endometriosis and pelvic pain. There are alternative centers that provide non-surgical treatment of these conditions. Vital Health Institute is unique in its comprehensive, integrative approach, combined with great clinical diagnostic and surgical skills. We are a team of truly gifted people who have a genuine desire to help you. We wish everyone the best of luck, and success at living a happy, abundant life.
