Endometriosis Treatment Process
|
The phrase, "The way women should be treated," is more than just a motto; it is at the core of what women experience at Vital Health Institute. We are a comprehensive women's health care center, recognized as endometriosis specialists with expertise in the area of endometriosis treatment and pelvic pain. The whole team at Vital Health Institute is devoted to treating our patients with the dignity and respect that women deserve, while providing the most comprehensive, up-to-date health care possible. We often hear comments from our patients like, "I can't tell you how much it means to me to know that you always have my back," "I have learned more in a half-hour with you than all my years of going to doctors," "You spoil me," "This is what all doctors' offices should be like," and "Thank you for giving me my life back." We do not have a magic pill, but we do have determination to treat our patients well, and do our best to optimize their health. At Vital Health Institute we see a wide variety of health problems that affect women. We believe in being proactive, and promoting optimal health as opposed to managing disease. We also believe that the patient should be involved and an active participant in her health care. This strategy works well for our patients especially when we can help them understand the early endometriosis symptoms which can lead to more treatment options. Prior to seeing a new patient, we like to receive a copy of previous medical records to review prior medical care provided. This helps us understand what patients have been through, it helps us create a working diagnosis, and prevents us from ordering duplicate tests and evaluation. Depending upon your situation , you will see one or a combination of the health care providers at Vital Health Institute (Dr. Cook; Linda Mavity, NP; Kirsten Conrad, NP; or Lene Joy, Nutritionist). A new patient will have a detailed consultation and often a physical examination, ultrasound, and possibly a body composition analysis. At the end of the visit, we will formulate and initiate an endometriosis treatment plan, which again, depending upon the individual's situation, may include any of our programs. If you have endometriosis or chronic pelvic pain, we will want to review any previous operative reports or videos that are available. If you are "out of area," both Dr. Cook and one of our Nurse Practitioners will speak with you in detail via the phone prior to you traveling to see Dr. Cook for surgery. We will do everything possible to make your trip and endometriosis treatment or other health treatment go smoothly. Patients being treated for endometriosis and pelvic pain will receive the uniquely comprehensive surgical and supportive program provided by Vital Health Institute. Treatment for "out of area" surgery patients includes phone appointments to ensure a successful recovery. New Patient instructions: Women travel from across the globe and all over the United States to come to Los Gatos, California for comprehensive surgical treatment of endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain. If you are a patient living outside of the Bay Area and are interested in scheduling a surgical consult, please see Out of Area and Out of State New Patient Instructions. |
